Science

What We Did Today
We corrected our drawing atoms packet. We then looked at certain atoms and looked at their placement on the table. Students were able to see atoms that were in the same family (column) had the same number of electrons on the outside shell (valence).

Homework
There will be a quiz on Friday. You will have to know how to read the periodic table. You will need to be able to determine the number of protons, neutrons and electrons and then draw an atom. There will also be a vocabulary section. If you want to get a head-start, the words for the vocabulary section are: atom, compound, element formula, mixture, nucleus, symbol, electron, family, metals, neutron period, periodic table, proton. Flash-cards work great!

Discussion Starters
How are the elements organized?
