What We Did Today 
Hours 1, 2, and 7: We corrected 1-16 from page 40 and started planning how we are going to separate the mixture you were given.
 
Hours 5 and 6: Students read pages 34-38 together and completed worksheet 1-4 in class. They were also given the worksheet "Physical Properties of matter" to complete as well.
 
Homework 
Make sure that you complete the rest of the chapter review if you have not already done so. On page 41 you were to answer 20-24 in complete sentences.

What We Did Today 
Students should have turned in WS 1-3 definitely by today. We corrected "What is Chemistry?" which led us to our new project. Students are to research a specific branch of chemistry. Students were given a list of questions to help the research. Students had the opportunity to find a topic  today along with finding good web sites to find information. Tomorrow, they will have the whole hour to research - you might want to bring a flash drive so you can work on this at home at a later date.

What We Did Today 
We went over our study guide and talked about the format of the quiz. Students will have to know the definition of matter and then list and describe the 3 states of matter. Know the difference between physical and chemical changes and be able to list the four clues that a chemical change has occurred. The vocabulary section will be matching. The following will be tested: volume, mass, density, characteristic property, chemical activity, element, compound, mixture. You will also be asked to solve a density problem.

What We Did Today 
We collected and compared the data from yesterday's lab. We saw that the density generally stayed the same whether we broke the crayon in half or kept it whole. Therefore, density is a characteristic property of matter.

What We Did Today 
Today we asked questions about why things float. After a lengthy discussion, we discovered that things float due to their density. We determined the density of floating objects and compared them to those that sank. We then determined that the density of water is 1.0 g/mL.
